Yash Dutt - Round 3, 2016 Champion

Consultation has concluded

Yash Dutt

Sparking digital creativity through teen collaboration

Yash Dutt is a remarkable Brisbane teenager who has combined his passion for technology with entrepreneurial talent to bring tech-savvy teens together. Yash is co-founder and Co-CEO of TechFlow, an online, student-run technology community.

Yash is inspiring young people to make their mark on our digital future by establishing ‘Future Makers’ – a not-for-profit arm of TechFlow. This program aims to spark the innovative side of local teenagers, and encourage teens to act as technology creators rather than consumers.

The ‘Future Makers’ program will be launched in 2017, with a one-day digital technology expo in Brisbane. The event will feature workshops, speakers, exhibits from a range of local tech companies, and opportunities to access mentors and start-up support networks. Created specifically for students and teens, the ‘Future Makers’ expo will build awareness amongst young people about the exciting opportunities the local tech industry holds for them.

Yash and his team hope to extend the ‘Future Makers’ concept to reach rural youths, by providing hands-on workshops in country locations. He recognises that digital technologies are embedded in our future, and wants to ensure that all Queensland students are given access to technologies and opportunities that will enable them to participate fully in the digitised economy of tomorrow. Including rural youths in his plans is about recognising that young people don’t need to go to the city to accomplish something great. Yash hopes ‘Future Makers’ will light a creative spark in these teens that may see them apply their digital ingenuity to industries in their own communities, such as farming or mining.

Yash is a digital champion who is:

  • empowering young people to have an impact on the future of digital technologies
  • bringing brilliant young minds together and fostering a culture of digital innovation

  • encouraging teens from all over Queensland to embrace the ever-changing landscape of digital technologies.

As a digital champ, Yash plans to make the ‘Future Makers’ expo an annual event, and also establish a more regular program of workshop activities created expressly for students and teens.

Yash is nominated by: Brisbane State High School.
