Tracy Lewis - Round 1, 2018 Champion

Teaching seniors online surfing skills

Tracy Lewis is helping seniors in the Lockyer Valley to become digitally active. By delivering a weekly Computer Club at her local community centre, Tracy provides participants with one-on-one training to improve their confidence in getting online, manoeuvre their own digital devices, and navigate the online world.

When she isn’t running the digital technology sessions, Tracy is helping the centre manage its social media presence and improve its online engagement with the broader community. She shares her time between upcycling projects and helping community organisations transition to digital systems, grow their social media presence, and activate community connections online.

As a Community Digital Champion, Tracy will support community members on their digital journey by:

  • conducting the ‘Surfing for Seniors’ technology classes teaching participants basic digital skills including how to send emails, shop online and use their digital devices
  • encouraging participation in online learning, connecting socially with others and developing the ability to access online resources and services
  • continuing to improve the Lockyer Community Centre’s social media presence to connect with more of the community
  • providing real-time online assistance to members of the Computer Club through an established Facebook group.

Tracey is nominated by: Lockyer Community Centre
