Inspiring and supporting women and small business in digital technology
Bringing her knowledge and expertise from around the world, Moea Vonsy is sharing her passion of digital technology with others, particularly women and small businesses in Queensland.
Born in France, raised in Tahiti, and now based in Brisbane, Moea, a financial analyst at CPA Australia, loves devouring books and blogs about technology and sharing her passion with others to make their lives better and easier.
Moea started learning about technology after working for a software company where she was encouraged and inspired to learn SQL. She loved it so much she completed a data science course and used those skills to build an iPhone app.
In her finance profession, Moea shares the latest innovations with her colleagues including machine learning, artificial intelligence and blockchain technology.
As a non-tech professional, Moea knows how scary the world of programming can seem and has discovered that the skills required can be learnt, all while having fun. She puts this philosophy into practice by:
Organising a Django Girls workshop – promoting technology and inspiring women to learn and have fun coding. The workshop included an installation party, speakers, networking drinks and participants learned to code in Python using the Django platform, with the support of a team of volunteer coaches.
Writing the Tech Savvy Entrepreneur blog – to help small business owners find ways to use digital technology to their advantage. Blog topics include how to create and maintain a website, how to create an e-shop, how to use digital marketing tools and what is SSL and SEO.
Participating in a number of groups and communities around UX, AI, Fintech, Wordpress and digital design and marketing.
As a Community Digital Champion, Moea will continue sharing tips and advice through her Tech Savvy Entrepreneur blog and running more workshops focusing on topics such as:
using social media to grow your business
building applications and games
working remotely.
Moea is nominated by: CPA Australia
