May Kabay

Indigenous Professional Support Unit - Queensland Council of Social Service

May has been a Townsville resident for over 20 years.

May facilitates workshops to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Services Educators throughout Queensland, particularly in remote communities where they may have limited exposure and access to technology.

May is passionate about bringing digital technologies and multimedia to the educators she works with.

She wants to inspire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in remote and rural areas throughout Queensland to encourage the use of digital technologies.

For example, May workshops iPad apps that can be implemented into services programing, focusing on creating environments to promote intentional teaching, and not used to 'occupy' a child's time. She also uses film as a medium to capture lived experiences and best practice stories that can be shared remotely
