Juliette Wright

Founder - GIVIT

In 2009 Juliette established GIVIT, an online platform connecting those who have with those who need.

Juliette started with a goal of making giving easy. She wanted to alleviate the effects of poverty in Australia by ensuring every charity has what it needs through the simple act of giving. Somewhere in Australia, there is a pair of unwanted work boots which could help a father secure work to support his family, a reliable washing machine that will allow a single mother the time to apply for work instead of washing clothes by hand and a bed which could provide someone the chance to live in their own home.

Revolutionising how society helps its most vulnerable, Juliette was uplifted by hearing stories of how one simple donated item had the ability to change someone else’s life.

Juliette created GIVIT to ensure quality goods get to where they are needed most by safely connecting and inspiring an online network of givers. Through GIVIT’s website, more than 1,000 trusted Australian charities are supported as urgently needed items are sourced direct from the public. Juliette’s hard work and determination has resulted in more than 200,000 items matched through GIVIT to assist those in dire need.

In 2011, when Queensland was devastated by floods, Then-Premier Anna Bligh turned to Juliette for help and GIVIT became the state government’s official website for matching donors and recipients so charities weren’t swamped with excess goods. The GIVIT website received 1.8 million hits in 10 days and more than 33,500 goods were matched in three weeks. Juliette’s passion is supporting each community by ensuring local donors give to local residents in need.

Juliette also recently launched GIVIT Kids, an online portal providing a fun and safe way for children to give new or pre-loved belongings to meet the urgent material needs of Australian families and children in need. GIVIT Kids aims to engage youths in giving and help develop a philanthropic culture in young Australians. GIVIT Kids has worked with the Queensland Department of Education, Training and Employment (DETE) to develop teaching resources to support the Years 3, 5 and 6 Australian Civics and Citizenship Curriculum.
