Imparting digital wisdom to seniors
With 38 years’ experience in providing technical support, Gary Volz the ideal person to educate seniors on digital technologies and how to integrate them into their everyday lives.
His interest in computers started in his first role as a technical officer with the Postmaster-General’s Department, where he become involved in the installation of computer controlled telephone exchanges. That prompted him to study a Bachelor of Applied Science Computing at Queensland University of Technology while working full time. Since then he has delivered computer and infrastructure support for 1200 computers with Telstra Business Units and is still contributing as a senior member of the Australian Computer Society.
In his retirement, Gary has been tirelessly volunteering with the Logan Area Committee on the Ageing (LACOTA) teaching seniors all things tech including hardware maintenance, cybersecurity and how to stay safe on social media. He has also been involved in the set up and maintenance of free computer hubs at the Logan Community Centre.
