Fabienne Wintle - Round 1, 2017 Champion

Driving tourism with savvy online marketing

Nicknamed the Web Wonder Woman, Fabienne Wintle shares her digital prowess with Southern Great Barrier Reef tourism operators and businesses, enabling them to drive more dollars through their doors with smart online marketing.

Fabienne has trained more than 6,000 Queensland and Australia-wide businesses to make the most of online tools. In addition to her paid work, Fabienne is a volunteer committee member for the Discovery Coast Tourism and Commerce organisation. She commits on average 20–40 hours per week helping the local tourism community grow its online footprint.

The combined power of digital productivity and marketing gives Fabienne the ultimate adrenaline rush. Her expertise is in using the right blend of cloud-based and traditional technology.

In her volunteer role, Fabienne has helped local tourism operators increase their exposure by:

  • Developing and implementing websites, social media strategies, and MailChimp education emails to improve the online footpring of the Agnes Water & 1770 region of the Southern Great Barrier Reef
  • Delivering monthly training to local tourism and non-tourism businesses
  • Producing a fortnightly digital technology newsletter to provide 300 local tourism businesses with key online strategy updates
  • Being available daily for half-an-hour of free one-on-one training to any business
  • Presenting at conferences and forums about the importance of businesses having an online presence and being digitally savvy.

In 2014, Fabienne and her family embarked on a two-year adventure caravanning around the country. She shared their travel stories, images and videos to her blog, using the opportunity to provide digital tips for running a business on the road, and how to start and grow a travel blog.

Currently, Fabienne is running TourismTribe.com as a digital strategist and is based in Agnes Water.

As a digital champion, Fabienne will continue to use her time to help local businesses make the most of the internet. She will provide monthly training and reinforce those topics in a fortnightly newsletter. Her free one-on-one training on weekday mornings has been particularly well received, so she will continue to offer this, making it easy for locals to access savvy digital marketing advice and direction.

Fabienne is nominated by: Tourism Division, Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games
