Introducing platforms for teachers to share digital technology experiences

Danielle Van Duong, a teacher at Brisbane State High School, is a Digital Learning Champion. This important role involves introducing digital technology into every day learning, and equipping other teachers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to do the same.

Commencing her teaching career in 2012, Danielle teaches business at Brisbane State High School.

Danielle has been instrumental in the Towards Transformation Apple program – a professional learning program designed to support and celebrate educators using Apple products for teaching and learning. Teachers benefit from curated resources, learning collections, product tips, lesson ideas and inspiration from other educators.

Danielle shares her knowledge of and experience with digital technologies as Brisbane State High School’s Digital Learning Champion. She volunteers to provide one-on-one and group training sessions to:

  • teach colleagues how to use iPads
  • improve the ability of teachers to use technology to enhance lessons for students including iTunesU, Showbie and Nearpod
  • support teachers to instinctively select digital resources to transform learning experiences
  • develop teachers’ capacity to plan and cater for individual learning needs
  • increase collaboration and building networks to heighten teacher awareness of and ability to effectively use digital content and tools
  • collaborate with teachers and school leaders to set and monitor performance and develop goals
  • build the capacity of colleagues to develop mentoring skills to extend the digital program and deliver the school vision.

As a Community Digital Champion, Danielle will continue to mentor and skill teachers in the use of digital technology in classrooms to enhance learning opportunities for Brisbane State High students. She is also creating a range of iTunesU courses and implementing and encouraging the use of Apple Teacher as a way of further sharing knowledge and experience amongst her peers.
